Welcome To Keri Lake
Still looking for the perfect resort to enjoy the Real Greek Island experience?
Away from busy commercialised resorts. Away from rowdy crowds, noisy bars, discos and packed beaches. For a totally individual, Greek holiday experience, Keri Lake is the resort you are looking for.

Keri Lake - Limni Keri in Greek, is a small, tranquil and very attractive resort in the south of Zakynthos. Situated on the eastern end of the bay of Laganas, the resort is only half an hour drive from Zakynthos Town and the airport, with good road access to both and the rest of the island.

Surrounded by an abundance of ancient olive groves and overlooked by pine-covered rolling hills, Keri Lake is in the perfect natural location for a relaxing and authentic Greek island holiday. A few minutes into the hills is the traditional and diminutive village of Keri - a place of stunning views and outstanding, home-grown hospitality.

So unlike other Zakynthian resorts with large hotels and long commercialised strips of bars and clubs, Keri Lake is definitely for the more discerning holidaymaker.

Accommodation in Keri Lake tends to consist of small apartment blocks and quaint hotels, all surrounded by their own grounds and gardens. On the hillsides around the bay, you find some pretty villas, hotels and some very popular Greek and international restaurants, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Bay of Laganas.

Though a small resort, Keri Lake offers its holidaymakers the essential facilities necessary to make their holiday comfortable. On the narrow main road leading from the gnarly olive groves to the beach, there are a number of shops, supermarkets, a lively bar (the Rock Café), tavernas and car/moped hire centres. In keeping with the resort, these are all very small and personal.

The waterfront with its narrow, part sandy, part pebbly beach and small fishing harbour attracts visitors, including many local families, who stop either to have a swim in the blue safe waters of Keri Lake or rent a little boat to explore the area. The tiny fishing harbour is a well-known starting point for boat trips to places like Keri Caves (some of the most interesting rock formations on the island), Marathonisi Island (Turtle Island) and turtle spotting trips in Laganas Bay. Scuba-diving in the turquoise waters around Keri is also available.

Keri Lake is the only natural harbour mentioned in the sailing pilot books on this side of the island for safe anchorage. During the summer months quite a few sailing boats and yachts of all sizes visit and anchor for the night here.
Indeed, from ancient times Keri Lake has been the natural harbour for the Zakynthians. According to Homer, it was the anchorage from where the black ships of the islanders left to join the fleet, which sailed to Troy with Ulysses to rescue Helen. The ancient historian Herodotus (who has must see springs named after him in the middle of the resort), also described the beauty of Keri Lake and its surrounding countryside in his writings. Other historical sites of interest near the resort include the recently discovered ancient cemetery in Kampi, near Keri Village.

Keri Lake (Keri Lagoon) is part of the Marine National Park of Zakynthos. An area where a large number of species of birds including turtle doves, raptors, owls and wild swans are all protected. The Lagoon is also a resting and feeding ground for birds migrating across the continent. The area is also well-known nesting ground for the endangered loggerhead sea turtle - Caretta-Caretta. The bay is additionally home to another endangered species, the elusive Mediterranean Monk seal - monahus-monahus.

As well as fauna, the outstanding flora of the area is protected by the National Park. Plant species like the Halophyte and ammophiles, frigana and guarigue as well as colourful wildflowers, predominate this green and idyllic land. And not only is the area protected by the National Park, but the locals, proud of the natural beauty of their surroundings, work hard to ensure it stays as such.

Let us help you have a unique and unforgettable Keri Lake holiday.

Special Interests in Keri Lake
More and more holidaymakers are looking for a variety of activities to partake in on their trip and locations are responding by catering for their many interests; Keri Lake is certainly no exception. For the more active, you will find cycling, walking, diving, windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. For those who want a slightly less energetic time, there’s photography, painting, bird watching and of course snorkelling.

A number of trips both around Zakynthos and to the neighbouring islands and mainland are also available. We offer boat or coach trips around the island, to areas of special interest such as the Blue Caves and to Kefalonia, Ithaca, Olympia and Athens.

If you prefer to enjoy the island at your own pace, then there is car and moped hire available in Keri Lake. Our local car hire firms are very competitive, with a variety of new models in both forms of transport.

For those clients who want the freedom and convenience of a car right from the start of their holiday, these can be booked with accommodation through our office. And for even more freedom and at a small extra cost, babysitting is available for families and can also be organised by our office.

We at the Keri Holiday Bureau ensure you get the most personal assistance, save money and get the best service available from all the companies we work with in Zakynthos.
